CEERI basis weight sensor provides accurate reliable on-line sheet weight measurements on a wide range of applications. The sensors are optimized for the process and its application. It uses beta nucleonic source absorption principle for measuring basis weight of the process. The sensor provides continuous data of voltage / current / digital as per the requirement set within the sensor. The sensor uses a high sensitive and efficient Photo Multiplier Tube (PMT) with a highly stabilized voltage to convert the nucleonic energy into the desired output mode and range. During the on-line applications, the sensor does not leave the paper. The modular structure adopted in the design of a sensor helps easy maintenance. The sensor complies with Ingress Protection Standard 55 and hence optimally gets isolated from environmental disturbances due to water, dust, etc. As the sensor works at an elevated temperature, it has least bearing on the environmental temperature changes. The typical hot air purging arrangement brings in the stability of measurement as it keeps the air density trapped between the paper and sensor more or less constant. It has the provision to sense air gap temperature for possible corrections to further improvise the sensor accuracy.
