Research Activities>On-line Freeness Tester

Design & Development of On-line Freeness Tester for the Pulp & Paper Industry

Objectives of the project

To design and develop an on-line Freeness tester for the Pulp and Paper Industry and also to fabricate one unit of the same for on-line tests at pulp and paper mills.

Applications

The microcontroller / computer controlled freeness monitor as mentioned above is an important tool for the control of refiner operations in a pulp mill.

Users/User Agencies:

All small, medium and large scale pulp and paper industries would be interested in installing a system in their mill to improve quality and production.

FEATURES

Simple Operational Procedure
Easy to install and maintain
Easy to replace faulty parts
Simple calibration procedure
Suitable for installation at many places in the pulp mill
After refiners for quality pulp
In the pit to monitor groundwood quality
In beaters to track refining process
In headboxes to monitor blending of two different stocks
Microcontroller based for easy calibration and linearisation of the signal
Suitable display to show the operations & results instantaneously
