Brief Description of the projectThe microprocessor based rotary viscometer developed by the CEERI Unit enables real-time monitoring and controlling viscosity/consistency of massecuite in the sugar industry. This helps to find the most suitable level of super saturation for seeding. And also fixes the exact time at which the centrifuging process has to be initiated for obtaining sugar crystal of good quality. Besides the control of viscosity/consistency helps to reduce the sugar losses in molasses.
Application and end user:
VISCOTRAN can be used to monitor viscosity of the massecuite in real time and control
input parameters to obtain better sugar crystal quality and to reduce sugar losses in the
molasses.
Also, It can be used in other industries also with minor modifications.

FEATURES
Continuously monitors viscosity in real time
Capability to monitor massecuite temperature continuously
Facility to generate alarm signal whenever viscosity value deviates from the set value
Simple construction and hence can be produced at low cost with indigenous components
With minor modifications, it can be appropriately used in other process industries also
Adaptability to centralized control in industry
Fully indigenous design
Can be easily operated by unskilled workers
