ON-LINE BRIX METER

DESCRIPTION:

• Brix is defined as the amount of total soluble solids contained in a given solution i.e., weight by weight of the solids content to the total solution.
• The parameter is represented as °Brix and is measured at 20° C.
• Brix meter, is basically a refractometer widely used in food processing industries throughout the world to determine sugar content in juices, syrups, jams, pulps, ketchup, etc.
• Brix is correlated to refractive index by means of a reference table provided by a standard international scale.
• The measurement is based on the total internal reflection and critical angle change due to change in sugar content in juices and syrups. A large photodiode is used for measuring this change and another small diode is used as a reference for compensation for changes due to colour and turbidity variations.
